Campaign of the month for September 2012: ‘Helpless’ by St John’s Ambulance

Just yesterday St John’s Ambulance launched their new video highlighting the importance of first aid knowledge.  The campaign draws parallels between deaths from cancer and deaths which could have been prevented with knowledge of first aid.  140,000 preventable deaths a year is a huge number indeed.  ‘Helpless’ is campaigns:worth:sharing‘s choice for Campaign of the Month for September 2012.

St John’s themselves call the campaign ‘hard hitting’, and it is, because it is always uncomfortable watching someone choke even if you know it is a situation that is being acted out.  This reinforces the necessity of limiting real life situations where this happens, because when situations like this take place, there is no acting going on.

To make it easier to reach audiences, St John’s Ambulance have put together a mobile app that can be downloaded for free.  It is called ‘St John Ambulance First Aid’, so now that you know about it and you know it’s free, you know what you should do next.

More direct info on the campaign can be found here.
