I was taking a leisurely walk down Portobello Road in Notting Hill on a sunny day (on my birthday) last week, and I came across this poster by Broadway, a charity that I had admittedly never heard of.
From their own website, “Broadway’s Street Outreach Teams make contact with people sleeping on the streets in London and link them with appropriate services such as health care, accommodation and learning opportunities.”
Especially in large cities like London, but also elsewhere, homelessness is still a big issue that affects thousands. Somehow some people still manage to slip through the social nets that link human beings to one other and get caught in situations that are hard to get out of.
And somehow, society still manages to forget them.
Kudos to small charities like Broadway who make a real difference.
